FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) -AIEEE

Eligibility Requirement



Q-1. What is State of Eligibility?

Ans-1 It is the state from where the candidate has passed the qualifying examination. For details, please see the “ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT” (section 4) of Information Brochure.



Q-2 A candidate has passed the 10+2 examination from State 1(For example: U.P.) and by mistake State of Eligibility is recorded as State 2 (For example: Delhi) in the Rank Card / Admit Card. Where the candidate is supposed to report for On-campus On-line counselling?

Ans-2 The candidate has to report at the Counselling Centre as per Score Card. The Counselling Centre will modify the State of Eligibility data to the correct State after verifying his/her documents.



Q-3 Remark “NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CENTRAL COUNSELLING” is written on the Score Card. Can such candidate attend the counselling at the counselling center as per counselling schedule?

Ans-3 No, Such candidates are not required to attend the counselling.



Q-4. NRI has qualified in AIEEE. What will be the state of eligibility?

Ans-4 The state of permanent address as given in the passport will be considered as the state of eligibility. At the time of Counselling he/ she will be required to produce Passport in original.



Q-5 In the counselling schedule published on the CCB website, counselling schedule of candidates having All India Rank 470266 are permitted for central counselling. My All India Rank also comes within this range, but in my score card “NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CENTRAL COUNSELLING” remark is written.

Ans-5 As you are not eligible for counselling, you are not required to attend the counselling. The candidates of SC/ST/OBC/PH categories may be eligible for counselling at these ranks.



Q-6 Final Result / Marksheet of qualifying examination (QE) is not available due to delay in declaration of result? Can such candidate attend the counselling?

OR

If a candidate is appearing in supplementary qualifying examination, is he / she allowed?

Ans-6 Provisionally allowed, if proof of appearing in qualifying examination (QE) is submitted. Such candidates will be admitted provisionally, subject to the submission of proof of passing in qualifying examination latest by September 15, 2008 at the allotted institution. In case they fail to comply with this deadline for providing the proof of passing in the qualifying examination, their admission will stand cancelled.



Q-7. Original marksheet / document are deposited somewhere else, and a certificate regarding this is available. Can such candidates be allowed for counselling?

Ans-7 Not Allowed.



Q-8. What are the restrictions in branch / institution?

Ans-8 Physically Challenged are not allowed in Mining Engineering*. Admission in GKV Haridwar is restricted to male candidates only. In addition, BIT, Mesra, Ranchi, Patna, Deoghar and other Institutions have age restrictions.

*Female Candidates are also not allowed in Mining Engineering in some of the institutions.

Score Card



Q-9 I have not received my AIEEE -2008 score card.

Ans-9 Please contact CBSE, Delhi for this purpose. You may download the Score Card from the website http://www.cbseresults.nic.in.



Category Rules



Q-10 As per AIEEE 2008 record, category is OPEN. Can the category be changed from OPEN to SC/ST/OBC?

Ans-10 No, It will not be changed. The candidates as per AIEEE 2008 records shall only be considered as SC/ST/OBC for Central Counselling.



Q-11. What is the format of caste (OBC/SC /ST) certificate?

Ans-11 Please visit www.ccb.nic.in for the format of caste (OBC/SC /ST) certificate (Annexure II and III of the Information Brochure).



Q-12. Is category change possible during on-campus counselling?

Ans-12 Change of category from OP to reserved category is not allowed. If the candidate fails to submit category certificate, then he / she will be converted to OP category.



Q-13. Is there any reservation for sub-category?

Ans-13 Reservation for sub-category is only for Physically Challenged. There is no reservation for any other sub-category.



Physically Challenged



Q-14. Who is a physically challenged candidate?

Ans-14 A person having a minimum of 40% disability of vision, speech and hearing, or orthopaedic is considered as physically challenged. A medical board at the counselling centre will examine the candidate and the decision of the medical board shall be final. A proforma is available as Annexure IV of the Information Brochure on the website www.ccb.nic.in.



Fee Rules



Q-15. Whether a Candidate has to submit two separate Demand Drafts for Engineering and Architecture Streams?

Ans- Yes, a Candidate, who is eligible for both the Engineering and Architecture Streams, has to submit two separate Demand Drafts for Engineering and Architecture Counselling’s.



Q-16. What are the Fee refund / adjustment rules?

Ans-15 Please refer Section 10 of Information Brochure for Fee adjustment / refund rules on the website www.ccb.nic.in.



Allotment

Q-17. Can allotment letter be given to candidate’s representative, if he / she fails to collect it personally

Ans-17 The allotment letter is to be downloaded from a place of convenience. The counselling centre will be merely acting as help centre for the purpose.



Reporting at PIs or Remote Reporting (for IIITs, IIITM and IIITDM only)



Q-18. Is it possible to join / report to the allotted institution through Counselling Centre?

Ans-18 Yes, in very special and emergent circumstances, a candidate may opt for remote reporting at the counselling centre. Remote reporting facility is available only for Candidates who have been allotted Seats in NITs, IIITs and IIITM. Remote reporting is not available for other Institutions. Candidates are required to submit the Documents and Fees at the time of remote reporting.



Form-2

Q-19. If a candidate does not want to fill Form 2 will he / she be allowed?

Ans-19 Yes, he / she will be allowed. Form 2 is optional but candidates are advised to fill Form 2 in their own interest.



Others



Q-20. Can a candidate change institution / branch immediately after allotment?

Ans-20 Not allowed.



Q-21. Can a candidate be allowed after scheduled date?

Ans-21 Allowed, but the candidate will be able to exercise choices available at that time.



Q-22. Can a candidate be permitted if he / she brings part of the required documents?

Ans-22 Not allowed.



Q-23. What is the ratio between the number of candidates called and the number of available Seats?

Ans-23 It is approximately 5:1.



Q-24. Whether the Candidates from North-East States (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim) can attend the Counselling from either NIT Silchar or IIT Guwahati?

Ans-24 Yes, but Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, will be operating for all activities as Counselling Centre between July 4 to 14, 2008 only. Withdrawal & refund will be transferred to NIT Silchar afterwards (i.e. after July 14, 2008).



Q-25. Which are the new SPAs?

Ans-25 SPA, Bhopal and SPA, Vijayawada will start functioning from academic session 2008-09 as informed by MHRD. Their address and contact details are awaited. Keep visiting this website for further information. This information is posted on June 28, 2008.







Off-Campus Online Counselling



Q-26. What is the procedure to register for Off Campus Online Counselling?

OR

I am not able to register for Off campus Online Counselling?

Ans-26 Click the heading “Off Campus Online Counselling” on the website http://www.ccb.nic.in and follow the steps given below:



1. Enter Roll No, Application No (7digits, enter all digits, For example, 456 should be entered as 0000456) and Name as given in the Admit Card/Score Card (For example, Ram Singh ( shown here with two spaces) should be entered with two blanks between first name (i.e. Ram) and second name (i.e. Singh).



2. Focus the cursor on the address box and wait till server returns the “State of eligibility” and “date of birth". (You are not to enter these data). If both are returned, fill in the Address and PIN correctly. These will be used for sending back Initial Fees after deductions as applicable. These are mandatory fields and must be filled after the server returns the information.



3. The server will accept your information only if you are eligible for central counselling. A registration number will be generated after successful process.

Note: Enter Roll No., Application No., Name, etc. exactly same as mentioned in the Score Card and Admit Card.



Q-27. What does “Status” in the “Print and Choice Status” report indicate during Off Campus Online Counselling?

Ans-27 During Off campus choice filling the “Status” indicates the number of Counsellees having better All India Rank who have already filled the same choice at the time you are filling for this choice. If you log off and then login again, it will show the last choice status. If you change the choice, it will show you the current status.
